Longyearbyen, the Svalbard's "capital"
Longyearbyen, on Spitzbergen island, is the Svalbard's main administration center and has excellent facilities, for both tourists and residents, considering the latitude. Excursion to Svalbard museum and hikes in the town under the beautiful noon light of mid-February.
After a couple of hours, the town slowly falls into a deep, magical blue light.
Soon is night... but not black ! The sky is filled by millions of stars, northen light (aurora borealis) and by some falling star !
Longyearbyen at night. The yellow lights from the public illumination, reflect on the snow and on the mountains.
The weather changes often and quickly on Svalbard. The following day the wind, the snow and the blowing snow, makes difficult just to walk.
